Chauvet on tour with MySpace Records’ Sherwood 5/19/2008Newly signed to Myspace records, the band Sherwood is hitting the road again this spring on a national tour through nightclubs and college auditoriums to support their newest album, A Different Light. Sherwood enlisted Lighting Designer Will Kent to build a lighting show that would work well with any existing setup at the diverse venues. Kent specified 8 CHAUVET COLORado™ 3 LED bank wash lights, mounting them to face the audience in a blinder configuration. Featured on multiple tours and installations during the past year, the COLORado™ 3 is powered by 54 LEDs arranged into three pods and capable of producing an output of 7,270 lux at 1 meter “The COLORado™ 3 units allow us to wash the audience, or the ceiling, or the band, or anything we desire with color, alternating between different hues, and give the impression of an extremely low-res video unit when needed…I love them!” says Kent. Sherwood’s new tour is a far cry from earlier ones, when band members had to juggle the dual tasks of selling records at malls during the day and performing at self-booked tours at night. Formed in 2002, while members of the band were attending Cal Poly State University, Sherwood first garnered national attention with the release of their debut album, “Sing, But Keep Going.” Sold at concerts only, it showcased their trademark sound of feel-good upbeat rock. A Different Light, the band’s latest album, promises to strengthen the band’s deep personal connection with fans with “power pop melodies” and “thoughtful, sincere lyrics.” For more information, including tour dates and locations, Key Lighting Equipment included:
